This morning while I was drinking coffee, something flew on my face and grabbed it with its sticky little feet (Eeeeeeee!). I never did see what it was before I batted it off but I'm pretty sure it was this guy. He's a rather large stink bug who had spent some time warming himself under a light in my kitchen the night before.
He was now giving me a good staredown from the greenhouse window. I could return him to the outdoors but stinkbugs don't like to be handled or told what to do. I've tried but I cannot catch the guy. Until he lets me carry him back outdoors (and not on my face), he'll have to figure out some way to overwinter since he's a "do it myself" kind of guy.
Last night he was funny to watch because he got one of his sticky little feet caught in some dust or cobweb and while he crawled up the wall, he kept giving that one leg a little shake to rid himself of the pesky cobweb. He actually did manage to shake it off before he wandered off to some place where I could not track him....until I got assaulted this morning.

It seems like turtle weather was fleeting this year...
Don't parrots and turtles eat bugs? Or does Stella, like my Senegal Pacino, not know she's a bird?
Mental-You are right. Turtle weather was fleeting this year. And it's a good thing cold weather slows them down because otherwise I'd have to put up with a lot of turtle tantrums.
Maureen-Ha ha HA. The turtles will only eat things off of a paper plate. My old turtle Lucy would eat all sorts of things like worms and pillbugs but the twins? Oh they're spoiled things. The parrots won't eat bugs either. The starlings will eat bugs (they LOVE them) but I'm not sure if they'd appreciate eating a bug full of stink and that katydid on the crown molding is huge!
By the way, I'm getting a staredown from that stinkbug as I write this. :-)
Lol--getting the stink-eye from a stink bug. Best wishes to both of you. Our cat will not eat mice or table scraps or anything but a few specific cat foods. He prefers to dip his paw in the toilet for a refreshing drink.
Leenie-You are FUNNY. Yes, that is exactly what I've been getting from that stinkbug. I can't see him right now but I heard him buzz somewhere about 15 minutes ago. He can buzz anywhere he wants as long as he does not land on my face again. I appreciate the best wishes though. ha ha ha
Lovely eating habits, that cat of yours. Violet prefers to drink the water that filters into the saucer of potted plants. Drives me crazy. And her favorite thing on earth is a big bowl of corn. Go figure.
I have a cricket in my bathroom - he's been there for at least 2 months now - how long do those buggers live anyway?? It's totally annoying.
