Still looking for fall color...

The parrotia tree is starting to turn yellow...

The beautyberry is covered in red berries which look really pretty against what is left of the fading yellow green leaves.

And the heuchera, although still green, is nearly lost in all the leaves that fell off the crab apple...which have now turned brown.

There really isn't that much fall color out there.

And yesterday, the weather decided to be something other than fall. Since it's so warm now (in the 70s!), the turtles get to spend a couple days outdoors.

Can you see Michael in his favorite place in the backyard?

Oh, he's in there. He just doesn't like to have his picture taken while he's eating.

This particular staredown didn't last too long though because...will you look? There's a whole tomato there!

A whole tomato!

There might not be many fall colors out there on the trees but Michael Ray sure makes up for it by having so many fall colors on his face.

What a great series of turtle pics. I love that last victorious one. :)

Paula-Well, Michael Ray should be happy but that turtle has a strong negative opinion about just about anything....except tomatoes.

Kate-Yooooou know it. Ha ha ha. Nothing better, except maybe strawberries.

Hilary-I love watching that turtle eat because he scrutinizes what looks most appealing and then goes for it. Unfortunately, he just hates it when I try to sneak up and watch him. Lots of staredowns. But if a tomato is involved....the staredowns never last very long. Like Kate said, tomatoes are the nectar of turtles. :-D

Such a personality!

Maureen-I guess you could call it that....whatever he has, it's a strong, stubborn, willful, tomato-loving one.

VV-He's only cute when he has tomato stuck all over his face. Oh why oh why does no one believe me when I say he's a bad, bad turtle? Baaaaaaad.

T&C-Except for you two. You know to stay away from Michael Ray because you are two very smart kitties. ;-)

Smiles4u-Bad animals make for good stories. If you want the little ones to read more about the twins (Michael Ray is usually bad, Cathy Jean is usually good) go to the labels area and click on "turtles."

And oh my, another POTW? That Hilary. I am very honored. :-)

Blunoz-Thanks for visiting and for your very nice comment.

Congrats on your POTW mention!

I liked your post! I don't know much about turtles. Never had much interest. But that now may change!

Gaelikaa-Every animal has a personality, even turtles. Unfortunately Michael Ray's is strong and stubborn. :-) Sometimes he's not so fun to live with but following him with a camera? That can be fun in a twisted sort of way. Ha ha ha. Oh he's so bad. :-)

Visiting via Hilary. What gorgeous photos! And what interesting subject matter - this is a site I will be visiting again, simply for the uniqueness of it all!

Maria, how could a turtle who is so cute be bad? I finally recovered enough to see your last 3 posts, and such pictures you produce! As for the deer sighting, perhaps you should live here. One fall day as I was walking downtown, I looked to my left before I crossed the street, and what do I see but a deer, staring back at me. Then it decided to cross the street when I did and then disappeared down the alley. Your turtle pondering which morsel to choose is the best, though.
