Sarah sent out an announcement because...

Yes, Rex is already two years old and it was time for a party.

Rex got tW0 birthday cakes.

ONe to share (the cake in front with the long candles) and 0ne just for him...

...which was a good thing because blowing out a fire on a cake is a messy and earnest business for a two year old.

...as is the cake cutting.

There were presents...

Some to share (this little flute was too hard to blow for anyone in the 2-3 year old age range...not that it wasn't tried...a lot)...

And some that were kind of shared...

Lucy later claimed the toy phone as hers and was stunned (in a very loud way) when she found out that it was not going home with her (I think Santa was text messaged about that).

The fire engine however, was not to be shared. If anyone tried to play with it, Rex got serious (I think that fire engine came from his uncle who is a fire chief).

Despite all the commotion and negotiation between all those under ten years old...

Rex's cat nanny Daffodil still managed to stick with her normal day's routine...

...of taking her scheduled afternoon nap. :-)

Just checked in to see where you had gone?!! Oh, Partying with two-year olds. Well, that is SERIOUS business. Looks like all went well and lots of loot was enjoyed. Hope project property is also still a go. Best wishes!

LEENIE!!!! I haven't written in an ENTIRE month because I just didn't feel that interesting...not that I do now. Haha. But spending some time with a two year old? Apparently absolutely everyone and every thing is interesting. What's not to like about that? I guess I had enough influence there to jumpstart me back into blogging land. :-)

Yes. I've been getting lots of questions about when I'm going to start building on that property of mine. I am known (even by myself) as a sloooOOOOoooOOOOw mover so who knows? I've been reading up on all sorts of house designs and not one has grabbed me yet. I then have to think about living in Tornado Alley since apparently one tore through the property about a year ago (found out about that after I met the neighbors who live south of the property). So it's lots of studying time for me this winter...and saving up money time too. Hopefully I am now out of my writing slump and will try to post something about my friend Aussie in the next day or so.

All the leaves are on the ground and the sky is overcast and defies a correct camera exposure but for some reason, I find all that countryside still pretty darn pretty. More pictures later, I promise. :-)

Love your happy pictures full of children doing what they do best: move! They move so fast it's hard to catch the action, isn't it? Was wondering where you'd gone off to!

Yaaay, she's back.

Kate-Thanks for the confirmation about the blurry kids in motion. I've been having some problems with my camera since it and I took a splat in the creek about a month ago. So maybe it's not my camera this time, it's those constantly moving kids. Whew! They were something. :-)

Maureen-Yep. I'm back and it's NOT like I've even been anywhere. :-/

Welcome back, Maria. I look forward to more of your narratives and pictures - being an animal person, I loved the pic of the white cat, Daffodil. Do all white cats prefer this pose? Could you check with her - Casper, my white cat, adopts that pose constantly.

Happy Birthday, Rex bean! Would Daffodil like two new furriends?

T&C-I'll forward your birthday message to the two year old bean. :-) And I'm sure Daffodil would love to have two new "furriends." She currently shares the house with Number Ten (yes, that's her name-Number Ten...Rex named her when Number Ten decided to leave the barn and move into the house with Daffodil because you guessed it, Ten is the tenth cat to move to Redbud Ranch).

Aunt Ellyn-I think white cats are a little different than the others. I know a lot of white cats are deaf but I think all of them act like they are...you know, do what they want whenever they want and then pretend they don't know the rules because they don't understand the language.

Sorry I've been off the blog for such a long time. A man from my past was in town over a month ago and I'm going to blame him because I've been off my game since his visit. There were plenty of snotty comments exchanged during our time together. Just like being with family. Ha ha ha. I have to call the visit a success though because after spending a day and a half together, we didn't kill each other.
