Birdhousing

A year or so ago I started making birdhouses. I still have no idea where or what or when exactly I'm going to build my house on Aussie's Acers (how they spell "acre" on signs in the country) but in the meantime, I've been busy creating my future avian subdivision.

Once a house is built, it has to stay outside (or hidden somewhere indoors) until it moves to its final spot because Stella gets a little too dedicated and critical with her house inspection.

"I think that door needs to be a little wider..."

Here's an example of what results when the housing inspector starts remodeling...

Anyway, the first birdhouse went up about a year ago...

And when I went to check on it last week...

I found out that Stella was right.

That door apparently did need to be widened.

It's so hard to please a prospective resident when you're building spec houses. Tenants just never seem to have respect for your hard work and designs. I think you may need to hire Stella as a consultant.

Hahaha. And perhaps she could have her own "Styled by Stella" show on HGTV too.

Oh that bird. I was looking at another birdhouse I built for the flickers and that one got pounded up at the door too. Neither birdhouse got occupied though... I think woodpeckers do all that pounding to get some wood chips at the bottom of what would normally be a cavity in a tree but why didn't they move in? I'll have to consult Stella about doing some interior design too I guess. :-/

StellaFullofHella is so funny! I love that she is a talented home inspector. I seriously love your birdhouse :) We have a door on one of our birdhouses that a Red Bellied decided needed to be larger and then he moved on! And Good Morning to you Maria!

Hiya Pix. Yes, that Stella Decorella is something, she always will be. Regarding the birdhouses, I like that one too and named it the Little Lotta house. Remember that cartoon character with the chubby chubby legs? The birdhouses I made that day all looked like Cyclops creatures but that's the only one that got a name.
